노벨티노빌리티 미국 보스턴(Boston) 오피스 설립

노벨티노빌리티는 올해 9월 미국 보스턴에 지사를 설립하게 되었습니다. 현재 보스턴 지사의 주요 역할은 파이프라인의 라이선스 아웃 혹은 공동개발(Co-develop)등 글로벌 사업개발을 (Business development, BD)을 담당하고 있습니다. 또 자사 파이프라인의 미국 임상이 개시되면 임상개발 및 관리 역할도 이 곳 보스턴 오피스에 추가될 예정입니다.

 

이번 블로그를 통해 우리 보스턴 BD팀의 사무실 소개와 보스턴에서 완전체가 된 노벨티노빌리티 BD팀의 최근 소식을 전달 드리고자 합니다!

보스턴 지사는 미스틱 강(Mystic River, 보스턴 중앙을 관통하는 찰스 리버와 혼돈하시지 마세요!) 옆에 위치해 있는 보스턴의 상징적인 건물 슈라프츠(Schrafft’s) 빌딩에 있습니다. 슈라프츠 빌딩은 1928년에 지어진 건물로 초콜릿이나 사탕 등을 만들던 공장이었고 슈라프츠 빌딩의 네온사인은 보스턴의 중요한 랜드마크 중 하나입니다. 현재는 모던한 공유 오피스로 사용되고 있고 많은 회사들이 입주해 있습니다. 저희도 그 중 하나랍니다 :)

지난달에는 드디어 본사 BD팀과 보스턴 BD팀이 만날 수 있었습니다. 팀즈를 통해 온라인으로만 만나다 처음으로 대면했을 때는 당연하게도 조금은 어색했답니다. (위에서 보시다시피 ㅋㅋ)

몇일도 지나지 않아 우리는 커피의 힘과 동지애를 통해 아주 끈끈한 사이가 되었답니다!

청교도들이 1620년 아메리카 대륙에 처음으로 상륙한 플리머스

이번 BD팀 모임의 가장 큰 하이라이트는 함께 떠난 보스턴 근교 당일 여행이었습니다. 장소는 미국의 역사적인 장소인 플리머스! 플리머스는 매사추세츠 주에서 유명한 지역 중 하나인데 바로 메이플라워호를 타고 온 청교도들이 1620년에 최초로 발을 디딘 곳으로 알려져 있습니다. 17세기 청교도들의 미국 정착은 미국 역사상 중요한 역사적인 이야기 중 하나 입니다.

플리머스는 보스턴 지사 사무실에서 한 시간 정도 거리에 위치해 있고, 우리는 가족들 그리고 친구들과 함께 미지의 땅으로 떠났던 순례자들처럼 부푼 마음으로 역사적인 해변으로 떠났습니다. 보스턴의 환상적인 초가을 날씨로 너무나도 아름다운 날이었습니다. 

 

사진에서 보시는 것처럼 평화로운 해변의 분위기를 마음껏 느낄 수 있었고 그렇게 친절하지 않었던 갈매기들과 함께 메이플라워 Ⅱ호도 볼 수 있었습니다. (청교도들이 1620년에 아메리카 대륙으로 건너올 때 탔던 메이플라워 호의 모형이 전시되어 있었습니다.)

한국과 미국으로 떨어져 있던 BD 팀이 함께 있을 수 있다는 것 자체가 엄청난 일이었다고 생각합니다. 이번이 처음으로 모두가 다 같이 만나 함께 일할 수 있었던 기회였는데 부디 다음번에 만났을 때는 제일 처음 찍었던 사진처럼 어색하지 않기를 간절히 바래 봅니다. (ㅋㅋ)

 

미국에 있는 우리 BD팀은 노벨티노빌리티가 지속적으로 글로벌 마켓에서 성장해 나가는데 일조하고 싶고 저희가 기여할 수 있다는 생각에 매우 기쁩니다. 그리고 우리가 개발하고 있는 신약들이 가장 필요한 환자들에게 전해질 수 있기를 바랍니다.

 

다음번에는 한국에서 다시 뭉쳐 근교 당일치기 여행 (아마도 수원화성?)을 떠나기로 약속 한 우리 BD팀! 그때까지 아쉽지만 팀즈 미팅에서 만나요~😊

Welcome to Our Boston Office:

 

While Novelty Nobility’s main headquarters are based in Pangyo, we also have a small team in Boston. The main function of our Boston subsidiary is to drive global business development (BD) so we can license and co-develop our antibody drugs with other companies. When we start our clinical trials in the U.S., we will also have a clinical team in our Boston office. 

 

Through this photoblog, we hope you can get a taste of our U.S.-based BD team’s office vibe and highlight our recent reunion with Novelty Nobility’s Korean BD team in Boston!

 

Our Boston office is located in the iconic Schrafft’s building right next to the Mystic River (not to be confused with the Charles River that runs through the center of Boston). While the Schrafft’s building used to be a chocolate factory, it’s now a modern office space home to many diverse companies.

 

This month we finally had the chance to unite our Korean and U.S. BD teams in Boston. At first we were a little awkward around each other after only meeting remotely on Teams (as seen above ㅋㅋ).

 

After a few days we were able to bond well as a team thanks to the power of coffee and camaraderie :) 

 

One of the highlights of having our BD team all together in on place was to be able to go on a historic MT together to Plymouth, Massachusetts! Plymouth is very famous as the location of the first settlement and landing place of the Pilgrims in 1620. The Pilgrims were a famous group of English settlers who sailed to America on the Mayflower in the early 17th century and their story is very influential in American history.

Plymouth is only an hour from our Boston office, so we decided to make a pilgrimage of our own with family and friends to enjoy the historic coastal town in the early fall.

 

As you can see, we had a blast enjoying the peaceful coastal vibes, met some not-so-friendly seagulls, and saw the Mayflower II, an exact replica of the original ship the Pilgrims sailed to America in 1602.

It has been amazing to have the whole BD team together in one place. Now that we’ve had the chance to bond together in person, we’ll hopefully look less awkward next time we take a group photo ㅋㅋ We’re all so excited to support Novelty Nobility’s continuous growth into the global market so we can bring our drug programs to the patients that need them most. 

 

Next time we’re all in Korea we’ll have to visit 수원화성! Until then, see you on Teams ;)
